Hello and welcome to K9 Coach! My name is Tash, and I am a dog trainer and behaviour specialist with over 15 years of experience working with dogs of all breeds and temperaments.

My passion for dog training started early in life, and I have dedicated myself to honing my skills and knowledge ever since. Over the years, I have developed a particular interest in working with aggressive and reactive dogs, helping them to overcome their behavioural issues and become well-adjusted, happy pets. In addition to my work with aggressive and reactive dogs, I also have experience in puppy raising, assistance dog training, and training pet dogs of all ages and breeds.

I am committed to using science-based, positive reinforcement training methods to help dogs learn and thrive. As the president of the Wollongong Sportdog Club, I am also highly skilled in training IGP competitors, and have a deep understanding of what it takes to succeed in ANKC trials.

Additionally, I enjoy teaching scent detection and tracking, which are not only fun activities for dogs but also have practical applications in areas such as search and rescue. My goal is to help dogs and their owners build strong, positive relationships through effective training and compassionate care. If you're looking for a skilled, experienced dog trainer who truly cares about your pet's well-being, I would love to work with you.

  • We offer group classes to focus on both puppy development and adult dog training.

Puppy classes are typically focused on basic commands such as sit, stay, come, and leash walking, as well as socialisation with other dogs and people.

Adult dog classes cover more advanced training topics, such as off-leash obedience, behaviour modification, and real world training.

  • In home consultations are designed to help address behavioural issues that may be affecting your dog's quality of life or causing problems for you, the owner.

During these consultations, a professional dog trainer will visit your home to assess your dog's behaviour and work with you to develop a personalised training plan.

By working with a trainer in your home environment, both your dog and you can receive personalised advice and support to help you build a stronger, healthier relationship with your pets and receive guidance tailored to your specific needs and circumstances.

  • Board and train packages for dogs, also known as doggie boot camp or dog training camp, are services offered by professional dog trainers where a dog stays in the trainer's facility for a specified period of time (usually four weeks) to receive intensive training and behaviour modification.

Board and train packages are popular among dog owners who have busy schedules, lack the necessary skills or time to train their dog themselves, or have tried and failed to train their dog on their own. The trainer will also provide regular progress reports to the owner, along with tips and strategies for maintaining the training once the dog returns home.

While the cost of board and train packages can be high, they offer a comprehensive solution to many training and behaviour problems and can provide long-lasting results.

  • Assistance dog training involves teaching dogs to perform specific tasks that can help people with disabilities. These dogs are trained to provide physical assistance, emotional support, and even medical alerts to their owners.

Assistance dog training can take several months to a year or more, depending on the specific tasks that the dog needs to learn and the individual needs of the person who will be training the dog. It's important to work with a reputable and experienced trainer who understands the unique needs of people with disabilities and can provide the necessary support and guidance throughout the training process.

  • In addition to dog training classes and consultations, we offer a variety of workshops to help dog owners and their pets develop new skills and engage in fun activities. These workshops include:

Nosework: In this workshop, dogs learn to use their sense of smell to find hidden scents, such as essential oils or hidden objects helping to stimulate their mind and boost their confidence. The workshop can be tailored to suit dogs of all ages and skill levels, and is a great way to provide mental stimulation and exercise for dogs.

Tracking: This workshop teaches dogs to follow scent trails left by humans helping to develop their natural tracking abilities. The workshop can be customised to suit dogs of all ages and experience levels and is a useful skill for activities such as search and rescue or hunting.

RATG: This workshop involves teaching dogs to participate in gun dog retrieving.

All of these workshops are taught by experienced trainers who use positive reinforcement techniques to help dogs learn and succeed. They are designed to be fun and engaging for both dogs and their owners, and provide an opportunity to learn new skills and strengthen the bond between dogs and their human companions.

Workshops can be requested by clubs or individuals. If you are interested in a workshop, please contact us on the form below for a quote.
